We're drawn to the oceanic horizon, a multiform curtain concealing the past and future, a clear delineation of the limits of our sight, and the unknown. In the horror film The Fog (1980), the sins committed by a coastal town 100 years prior come back to haunt them.
In October 2024, I ventured out to Northern California to visit several filming locations, and found nearly all of them to be the same as they were in 1980.
